Having a new paint over your room is one of the easiest ways to provide an overall fresh look right after the job is done. However, many home owners are afraid of painting their rooms on their own. Actually, painting is not a very difficult task as long as you know what to do and the correct method to use. Below are some basic home improvement advice and tips for your upcoming painting project.
One: Do Not Rush
If possible, prepare the soon to be painted room in one or a few days ahead before you even begin to paint. Preparation should include things like moving off the furniture, laying down drop clothes, taping the no-paint area and of course, gather all your painting supplies in the room. After all, getting all the preparation and paint job done in one whole day rushingly will only lead to a bad result.
Two: Suitable Brushes
It makes sense when you use foam rollers to paint large areas and small brushes to cover all the trims and windows sides. But what if there are things or places where you need to use a regular size brush to do the job? It all depends on the type of paint that you are going to apply to select the ideal brush to use. For latex and water based paint, you will need a synthetic bristle brush while for oil based paint, you should go with natural bristle brushes.
Three: Painter's Tape
It is important to tape on frames around the doors, windows and trims. Apply those blue tapes specifically for painter on smooth surface to avoid paint seeping into the areas that you don't want to. You can then simply remove the tape after the paint has dried. There won't be paint coming off together with it.
