Taking Care of Microfiber Sofas

Microfiber sofas are a good purchase because it offers a lot of great features. This furniture is soft to touch, lightweight, affordable and best of all, they are very easy to take care of.

Microfiber, made possible by today's technology, is currently the tiniest synthetic fiber, one that is a hundred times finer than a human hair strain.

Microfiber products are especially recommended for allergy sufferers as they do not cling on to dust or become dingy easily thus microfiber sofas are very simple to clean and handle.

Although the design of microfiber sofas is renowned to be stain resistant and they do not decay easily, the surface of this fabric will still attract some dust and dirt that floats in the air. Therefore, regular cleaning is required to make sure that the furniture is always clean and free of dust. However, not all microfiber sofas have the same care instructions or labels that specify which kind of solution you should use. So just to be on the safe side, whichever technique or instructions you are following, test it on an inconspicuous spot first.

Fortunately, general cleaning methods for all kinds of sofas are typically the same. Combine some water with a couple drops of mild dish or laundry detergent, then apply the solution to a rag and gently rub it on the sofa. Make sure you blot up all the water spills before it soaks into the sofa that may potentially leave a water mark. For smelly stains, immediately absorb the moisture as much as possible with a rag. Then, to eliminate the remaining odor and stain, rub the surface with a mix of equal parts of distilled water and white vinegar. Sprinkle some baking soda over the spot and vacuum it up after several minutes.

Usually there is no other special treatment necessary since most microfiber sofas are designed and manufactured using polyester as the base fabric. This material is durable and its color will not fade easily. Steam cleaning and vacuuming these sofas occasionally are more than enough, while simple surface dust cleaning can be done easily using a sticky roller. Taking care of a microfiber sofa should not be too difficult, unless the furniture is made from unauthentic materials.
